What this
degree program
can offer you

The degree program for the future

We need resource-saving methods for supplying energy, chemical processes to combat the pollution of planet Earth, sustainable transportation and clean factories. This is only possible with good engineers. Engineers who research and develop to achieve these goals. For whom agile planning and precisely implemented solutions are a matter of course. With the Mechanical and Process Engineering bachelor’s degree program, you will be qualified to join this diverse professional field and make an active contribution to a better future.

The Mechanical and Process Engineering bachelor’s degree program offers you:

  • Research- and project-oriented learning based on current problems such as energy supply and transportation
  • Specialization in mechanical engineering or process engineering in the fifth semester, optionally partly or completely from abroad
  • Personal study mentoring and direct contact with teaching staff
  • A future-oriented research field and collaborations with international partners from academia, business and industry

Promising PROSPECTS

Once you have successfully completed your bachelor’s degree course, you can get started straight away with research, construction or product development as a mechanical engineering graduate. Process engineers deal with the design and construction of equipment and systems that convert energy, for example. Alternatively, you can acquire an additional qualification with a master’s degree course – regardless of your specialization.

INNOVATIVE RESEARCH.
PROJECT-ORIENTED LEARNING.

To ensure that you are ready to put your knowledge into practice in your career once you have finished your studies, we teach according to our research- and project-oriented concept: in the first four semesters you will gain an understanding of the scientific and technical foundation based on one connecting element – with relevance for your career and to societal problems.

In addition, you will participate in an engineering project on either Transportation and Autonomous Systems or Regenerative Energy and Systems during the first two semesters. In a small group of around three people, you will get an insight into the high-quality research in the faculty of production engineering and hone skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, presenting and documentation.

FOLLOW ONE PATH.
AND DISCOVER THE WORLD WHILE DOING IT.

The fifth semester is seen as an opportunity to broaden your horizons. You will do a second project and select your specialization: mechanical engineering or process engineering. You can complete this semester at another university, at an industrial enterprise or at a university abroad. The University of Bremen is a member of the international YUFE and Yerun networks; the Faculty of Production Engineering maintains a number of Erasmus partnerships and international university collaborations which offer diverse opportunities for exciting periods abroad.

NOT A GENIUS? NO PROBLEM!

Didn’t win first prize in your school STEM contest? Your parents aren’t academics? It doesn’t matter – the University of Bremen stands for diversity above all else. No matter their origin or gender, all people have the same opportunities here. After all, we all have the same goal: to train the confident engineers of the future. And this professional field demands more skills than just math, physics and the rest. So, don’t let your enthusiasm for machines and technology be dampened by a few unspectacular school grades. Contact our faculty – we will be happy to advise you.
